Letters written by members of the Carpenter and Curtis families including William Carpenter and his wife Lucretia M. (Curtis) Carpenter (later Mrs. O.F. Redfield) and A.A. Curtis describing life in Yuba County, Calif. and Austin, Nev. and lumbering in Humboldt Co., Calif.; diaries (with typed transcripts) of William Carpenter re his trip from Guadalajara to San Blas en route to California in 1849 (v. I) and voyage to California via Nicaragua in 1851 (v. II); miscellaneous household financial records, invitations, clippings, etc. Diaries (originals) are also on microfilm.
